A club for friends who build together

Your group chat,
with a balance sheet.

Compound Interest turns your friend group into a crew. You get a long weekend somewhere beautiful, a thesis you argue your way to, and something you own together when you fly home.

“We should do this more.”

Everyone says it on the last night of a wedding weekend. Then the group chat goes back to memes. After thirty, friendships don't end. They drift, one skipped reunion at a time.

We think the fix is to give your crew a reason to keep showing up: a yearly weekend with an agenda, a shared project, and skin in the game.

How it works

Five steps from group chat to co-owners

  1. 1

    Rally your crew

One person steps up as Steward and invites 6–16 friends. Everyone puts down a $299 planning deposit, which covers the planning and screens out the "maybe"s.

  2. 2

    Pick the place

Deposit holders vote with a ranked-choice ballot for the destination and an approval vote for the dates. Joshua Tree, Jackson Hole, the Albanian Riviera… Latecomers can still join at 1.5×.

  3. 3

    Open the Round

Members pledge in $100 units, from $1,000. Anyone can post a thesis for the crew to read before the trip. Your pledge cap rises as your friends pledge, so no single member can dominate.

  4. 4

    Basecamp

Thursday to Sunday. Hikes, a keynote, pitch night, and hard questions. On Saturday the crew picks one thesis. On Sunday morning everyone either says yes or steps out.

  5. 5

    Build together

Your crew forms its own entity, or everyone buys the thesis in their own account. Then you check in quarterly and come back next year.

The weekend

Burning Man meets SXSW meets your college reunion

Every Basecamp is a big house in a place that makes you think clearly, with a schedule that alternates between adventure and argument. You leave energized, a little sunburned, and with a plan.

  • A long group excursion: a canyon hike, a river day, or a boat
  • A keynote from someone who has actually built the thing you're debating
  • Breakouts of 4–6 so the quiet ones get heard
  • A private-chef dinner and a fire you'll talk about for years

The money, plainly

Fair by design, and it never touches us

No whales

No one can hold more than about ⅙ of a 12-person pool. Units carry the economics, and every member gets one vote, whatever they put in.

Leave before it counts

You get a full refund any time before the crew agrees on a thesis. After that, stepping out costs 10%, which goes to your crew's next trip. It never goes to us or to the other members.

No hostage-taking

On Sunday, anyone who isn't in steps out. No one can veto the rest. The deal proceeds only if enough people and enough capital stay.

Your crew holds the money

Pledges move between members and your crew's own account, never through Compound Interest. We charge flat fees. We never take a percentage of what you invest.

Your crew decides what, if anything, to invest in. Money moves between members and your crew's own account, never through us. Any investment can lose value.

The long game

From a weekend to a compound

Crews that keep coming back build trust, and then they build things. It starts with a shared gear library, then a van or a boat, then a cabin. Eventually it's land: private cabins around a shared kitchen, a greenhouse, a pool, and fast internet. Neighbors you chose, and an HOA that's actually yours.

FAQ

Fair questions

Is this an investment fund?

No. Compound Interest is a software and hospitality company. We plan the weekend and provide the tools. Your crew decides what, if anything, to invest in, and holds its own money. We don't manage, custody, or take a cut of anyone's capital.

What if we can't agree?

That's allowed, and it's planned for. Before the trip, your crew picks a fallback: full refunds, holding the money for next year, or everyone buying a simple index fund on their own. The weekend still counts.

Do I need to be rich?

No. The minimum pledge is $1,000, and we suggest you commit no more than 5% of your savings. Pledge caps and one-person-one-vote exist so the friend with the biggest check doesn't run the show.

Can I join a crew of strangers?

You can join an Open Basecamp to meet people. Those are retreat-only. Crews invest only with people they already know.

Is it just for guys?

No. The idea started with a group of guy friends, but crews come in every shape: college roommates, old teams, girls' trips that want more than a spa day, couples, and professional circles.

When does it start?

Our founding crew heads to Joshua Tree in early 2027, and the first public crews launch after that. Waitlist members who claim their crew get first invites.

Claim your crew

Join the list, then share your link. Each friend who joins moves you up. When six friends are in, your crew is claimed: you get first invites and half off the organizer's platform fee.
